Step 1:
A nurse practitioner specialized in ADHD will meet with you and your child to conduct a comprehensive review of your child’s medical, social, developmental and educational history as well as a specific assessment for ADHD. If the nurse practitioner believes ADHD is likely, they will give you a questionnaire for the child’s teacher to complete and may ask you for additional collateral information such as report cards or medical reports.
Step 2:
You will meet with the same nurse practitioner for your second appointment to review the collateral information and questionnaires, complete the ADHD assessment, and work with your family to develop a customized treatment plan tailored to your child’s specific needs if they have been diagnosed with ADHD.
Step 3:
You will be seen by your nurse practitioner for ongoing follow-up care, medication management and support at regular intervals depending on your child’s needs.
